Sheriff of Nugget Gulch-1937

Okay…here is my last Disney themed piece for a while. Another piece inspired by the great Floyd Gottfredson's 1937 Wild West themed story "Sheriff of Nugget Gulch".This was from the colored Sunday strips. Back in the days before the longer adventure stories shifted toward gag strips.

Goofy

A drawing of Goofy in the 1930's, inspired by the late cartoonist Floyd Gottfredson (1905 – 1986). Floyd drew the Disney strips for several decades. I just love his work and embarrassed to admit that I did not know know about him until fairly recently. Since then I've been collecting the Mickey Mouse volumes. Goofy has always been my favorite Disney character.

Peg-leg Pete

Here is another recent Walt Disney inspired illustration. Original Disney bad-guy (and one of my favorites) Peg-leg Pete. This one is based off how he is shown in the most recent Mickey Mouse short "Get a Horse". I've always loved the design on this character and he can fit into any genre that Mickey is thrown into. Done with India Ink and Photoshop.

Donald Duck

After a recent trip to Walt Disney World, my interest in classic Disney characters was rekindled. Here is one of the ideas I had while visiting the Magic Kingdom. Everyone's favorite, ill-tempered waterfowl.

Happy 110th Birthday to Dr. Suess!

Yesterday was the legendary genius Ted (Dr. Suess) Geisel's 110th birthday. To celebrate the birth of one of my all-time favorite authors and illustrators, I drew one of the enthusiastic Harvard Club members from 1948's "Thidwick the Big-Hearted Moose".
